Love does not always end when a third shadow falls across it.
Someone else may stand too close, drawing the attention of the person you desire and filling the space where your own presence once lived. Their influence may be obvious, or it may remain concealed behind chance meetings, interrupted conversations and sudden distance.
This love rival removal spell gathers that influence into a written name, seals it beneath violet wax and reduces it to ash.
The original ritual draws a deliberate boundary. It does not call sickness, evil or suffering upon the rival. It names only the unwanted influence, separates it from the relationship and buries what remains beneath the earth.
When to Perform the Spell
Perform the ritual during a waning moon.
As the visible moon diminishes, imagine the rival’s hold becoming weaker. The spell is especially suited to the final nights before the dark moon, when hidden bonds may be loosened and unwanted attachments returned to silence.
Begin after sunset.
The room should be quiet, with only the violet candle before you. Let the ordinary distractions of the day withdraw until the name upon the paper feels like the only unfinished matter remaining.

What You Will Need
Gather the original ingredients:
- A sheet of paper
- An envelope
- One garlic clove
- A violet candle
You will also need a place where the ashes, garlic and candle remains can be buried when the ritual is complete.
Use a plain sheet of paper and an envelope without decoration. They are not gifts or messages. They exist only to contain the rival’s influence until it can be destroyed.
The Meaning of the Written Name
A name gives a hidden presence a boundary.
Before it is written, the rival may seem to exist everywhere—in every silence, suspicion and unanswered question. Once placed upon paper, that influence is given a single shape.
The paper does not represent the rival’s entire life. It carries only the part of their presence that has entered your relationship.
Write nothing else upon it. No accusations, memories or wishes belong there.
Only the name is required.
Creating a Magical Name
If you know the rival’s real name, write it in the center of the paper.
If the real name is unknown, the original spell instructs you to create a magical name.
Choose a name that describes the shadow they cast rather than inventing an ordinary personal name. You might use:
- The One Between
- The Unwanted Shadow
- The Whisper at the Door
- The Third Flame
- The Hidden Rival
- The Dividing Hand
- The Stranger Between Hearts
Once chosen, use the same magical name throughout the ritual.
Write it slowly in the center of the page. As the final letter is completed, say:
Though your true name remains concealed,
the shadow of your influence is revealed.
The Violet Candle
Violet belongs to thresholds, transformation and hidden power.
In this ritual, its flame changes the rival’s influence from something active into something that can be sealed, burned and returned to the earth.
Place the candle before you and hold both hands around it.
Imagine the color violet deepening around the wick like evening gathering around a distant tower.
Say:
Violet flame, reveal and divide.
Let no unwanted shadow abide.
Light the candle.
Allow the flame to become steady before continuing.

Cutting the Garlic
Take the garlic clove and cut it open.
Garlic carries a sharp, dividing nature. Its scent enters the air immediately and refuses to remain unnoticed. Within this spell, it breaks through concealment and weakens the influence attached to the written name.
Hold the cut surface above the paper.
Say:
As this clove is opened,
so is the hidden bond exposed.
Lower the garlic to the name.
Rubbing the Name with Garlic
Rub the cut garlic directly across the written name, following the original method.
Begin at the first letter and move slowly toward the last. Imagine the rival’s influence loosening with every stroke.
The ink may blur. The paper may absorb the garlic and become translucent. Let the name lose its clean shape.
As you rub it, say:
Name upon paper, shadow made known,
your hold is broken, your path withdrawn.
What came between shall now depart.
Leave this threshold. Leave this heart.
When the entire name has been covered, place the garlic clove upon the paper.
Fold the page inward around it.
Sealing the Envelope
Place the folded paper and garlic inside the envelope.
Close it.
Lift the violet candle and allow several drops of wax to fall across the envelope’s seal. Watch the wax spread and harden.
As the first drop falls, say:
What was hidden is contained.
With the second:
What was joined is now divided.
With the third:
What is sealed shall lose its way.
Continue until the envelope is firmly closed beneath the violet wax.
Set the candle back in its place.
Pressing the Envelope to the Forehead
Take the sealed envelope in both hands and press it against your forehead, preserving the central gesture of the original spell.
Close your eyes.
Imagine the person you love standing before you. Between you is the rival’s shadow—the name, the distraction, the influence that has made the path uncertain.
Now imagine that shadow being drawn away from the relationship and into the envelope.
Do not picture suffering. See only distance.
The rival turns toward another road. Their voice grows faint. The space between you and your lover becomes clear again.
The Original Rival Removal Incantation
With the envelope still against your forehead, speak the original words exactly:
(Name), I do not want you sick, evil or suffering,
Liberate my lover from his influence!
Replace “Name” with the real or magical name written inside the envelope.
Repeat the incantation three times.
On the final repetition, lower the envelope from your forehead and hold it before the violet flame.
Say:
No wound follows you.
No darkness bears your name.
Only your influence departs
and leaves the heart from which it came.
Burning the Envelope
Touch the edge of the envelope to the violet candle flame.
As it burns, imagine the sealed influence losing its shape. The written name, the garlic and the wax become part of the same darkening ash.
Repeat:
Paper to flame.
Shadow to smoke.
Influence severed.
Attachment broke.
Allow the envelope to burn completely.
Gather the cooled ashes together. Keep every fragment that remains, along with the used garlic and the violet candle’s wax.
Nothing from the ritual should remain in the room when the final burial is complete.
Reading the Violet Flame
The candle may reveal how firmly the rival’s influence is attached.
A tall, steady flame suggests that the separation has begun cleanly.
A flame that bends away from the envelope speaks of an influence already withdrawing.
A small flame indicates a connection that has grown weak and may require little force to dissolve.
If the flame briefly divides into two points, it may reflect two paths separating.
When the burning is finished, let the flame settle before extinguishing it. Record any unusual movement in your Book of Shadows.
Burying the Remains
Carry the ashes, garlic and remains of the violet candle to a secluded place.
The burial should be away from your doorway and from anywhere you regularly walk. The rival’s influence is not being kept near the home. It is being removed from the pattern of your daily life.
Dig a small hollow in the earth.
Place the remains inside and say:
Beneath this soil the shadow lies.
No longer seen by watching eyes.
The road divides, the bond is done.
Two paths depart and become one with none.
Cover the hollow completely.
Press the soil flat with both hands.
Stand and say:
I bury the influence.
I release the name.
What stood between us
shall not return the same.
Leave the place without looking back.
The Three Nights After the Spell
For three nights, do not speak the rival’s name.
The name has been buried, and silence must now gather over it.
Each evening, light no violet candle. Let the place where the ritual was performed remain dark and empty.
Instead, sit quietly and imagine your relationship without the third presence. Do not picture victory over another person. Picture an open road, two figures and no shadow walking between them.
On the third night, say:
The earth has closed.
The flame is gone.
What was divided now moves on.
The removal rite is complete.
Signs the Influence Is Fading
The first sign may be silence.
The rival’s name appears less often. Messages become infrequent. Meetings fail to occur. Their presence no longer seems to shape every conversation.
Your lover may begin to look toward you without distraction, or the uncertainty surrounding the relationship may finally reveal its true nature.
Dreams may show a closing door, an empty chair, garlic, violet light or two roads moving away from one another.
Let these signs appear in their own time. The spell has been buried; it works beneath the visible surface.
Restoring the Space Between Two Hearts
A removal spell creates an opening. It does not decide what will enter that space.
Once the rival’s influence has faded, return your attention to the bond itself. Attraction must be awakened, affection renewed and the relationship given a life beyond conflict.
